I have had a varied career, gradually diversifying into academic or educational posts from a sound start in clinical practice. This has involved learning to apply project management and leadership skills. The projects that I have evolved and led have been invariably focused on benefiting patient care, and how to promote effective working in healthcare settings. I reverted to clinical practice in 2007, with an active GP role and lots of educational initiatives with various professional organisations across England. This led to me taking up a range of leadership roles in relation to GP-led commissioning of services and supporting practices’ learning & development that in turn improved their clinical management – with evidence of improved clinical outcomes for their patients at scale. I strongly promote patient-centred care and support patients’ empowerment to self care with integrated healthcare – giving real choice to patients in taking responsibility for their own health & wellbeing. I have demonstrable experience, passion & commitment in relation to supporting doctors and other clinicians and healthcare staff to work effectively and productively.

I am a natural leader – and am flexible enough to be able to lead from the front or from the back – whatever is most appropriate for the team dynamics and job in hand.  I usually adopt a facilitatory style of leadership, empowering individual team members so that they can take successively more responsibility – and receive public recognition for their achievements. I am good at engaging team members to be involved and work towards common goals whilst establishing team leadership and delegating appropriately.
